Helping Warriors and Their Families Thrive
Chris Gordon was on patrol in Iraq in 2005 when an improvised explosive device (IED) literally launched him out of the armored vehicle he was riding in. When he woke up at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center a few weeks later, he was without his right leg and had a permanent titanium rod in his left leg. At his hospital bedside, Chris received a Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) backpack filled with essential comfort items and a promise that WWP was going to be there throughout his journey to recovery.
Today Chris is standing tall as a husband, father, and student pursuing a college degree in information technology. To Chris, WWP is like family, and he remains actively involved with programs like Soldier Ride®, hunting and fishing trips, and attending sporting events. “They provide me with a lot of positive emotions so I can keep moving in a positive direction physically and mentally,” says Chris.
As a Corporate Champion partner with WWP, we are able to help provide lifechanging programs free of charge to over 100,000 wounded warriors, their families, and caregivers. Through this support, warriors are able to connect with each other, overcome mental health challenges, lead active and healthy lives, and find rewarding civilian careers.
At HCR, we are aligned with Wounded Warrior Project’s mission to support our troops and help separated military personnel find healthy, active, civilian careers. We employee a large number of former military personnel and greet each day with gratitude for their bravery and sacrifice. In our ongoing commitment to support our troops, HCR proudly donates a percentage of all sales to WWP.
